QBE expands Vancouver office to grow Western Canada offering

QBE has expanded its capabilities in Western Canada with new hires based in its Vancouver office.

Troy Wiebe has joined as Casualty Underwriter. He joins with over 20 years’ experience in property and casualty underwriting having most recently held the role of Underwriting Director at Northbridge. In the newly created role, he will be reporting to Adam Dobko, Underwriting Manager, Casualty.

Jasper Hageman has joined as Property Underwriter. He joins from Northbridge where he specialised in property underwriting, with expertise in public sector, construction, retail, manufacturing and wood products. He brings over 25 years’ experience to the new role and reports to Lisa Wolfe, Underwriting Manager for Property.

In addition, Fiona Bui has been promoted to Underwriting Support Team Lead. She has been with QBE since 2016 having joined as Underwriting Assistant and is based in Vancouver. In her new role, she reports to Dawn Cooper, Compliance & Risk Management Specialist.

Ben Hunter, Director of Canada, QBE said: “QBE’s appetite is well aligned to the types of businesses which operate in Western Canada, including construction, manufacturing, forestry and mining. With these new hires, we now have expanded capability to grow our customer base and expertise to support our growth ambitions in the mid-sized business space as well as with cross-border and multinational placements.”

QBE first opened its Vancouver office in 2015.
