Whether it’s an unexpected election result or an extreme weather event, such as Toronto flash floods in August last year – businesses are clearly operating in unpredictable times. More sophisticated risk management and scenario planning could be the antidotes to growing unpredictability.


Tracking uncertainty

Smaller companies are most vulnerable to periods of unpredictability. They may be more nimble and quicker to leverage opportunities, but they are typically less able to absorb shocks than large companies.
